Organizations plan Labor Day festival

OKLA. CITY — The Oklahoma Conference of Churches joins with station KTLV, the Green Foundation and other contributors to sponsor the second annual Oklahoma Labor Day State Prayer & Praise Festival, scheduled for Saturday on the north lawn of the state Capitol.  

Subtitled “Praise on the Porch,” this free event will begin at 10 a.m. and continue through 9 p.m., with corporate prayer, music, dance, poetry, rap and a State Address at 3 p.m. by Apostle Lewis Bell.

A highlight of the event will be the State Prayer hosted by Apostle Fannie Wallace at 11 a.m., with a dove release following, in commemoration of the children and teacher who lost their lives in the May 20 tornado in Moore.

Free food and drink will be provided, as well as games for children.

This ecumenical event is open to all ages. Artists scheduled to perform include David and Tina Bonham with bluegrass music, several gospel artists such as God’s Girl, Leah, L. Mega, Chris and Chosen. A full line-up of musicians and artists will be performing from noon to 8:30 p.m. Others performing are: Autumn Outon, Neomaximus, True Worship, Yvette, Tiffany, The General and Franco Cevallos with Latin American music.

“This event is meant to bring everyone together,” stated Kim Truss, event coordinator.
