EDMOND — Christian women to pray for schools, children
An Edmond church is hosting an event during which Christian women in every state and 80 other countries will gather to pray and fast for children and schools.
Arise! Cry Out! will be a time of passionate prayer led, via DVD, by Moms In Touch International Founder/President Fern Nichols, Pastor Miles McPherson (founder of Miles Ahead Ministries and pastor of the Rock Church in San Diego) and the worship team Crimson Bridge.
The professionally recorded and edited DVD was created at the Arise! Cry Out! Live Event, Oct. 9 and 10 at the Rock Church in San Diego, Calif., and will be used around the globe on Nov. 14 to facilitate a worldwide day of extraordinary prayer for children and schools. Women from 41 different states and 19 countries attended the live event, experiencing a time of praise, inspiration and prayer for children and schools.
The local host site will be the First Presbyterian Church of Edmond. Arise! Cry Out will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the church sanctuary, 1001 S. Rankin St. Doors will open at about 8:30 a.m. Childcare will be available for guests who register by Nov. 11 at childcare@fpcedmond.org or 341-3602, ext. 333.
In October, Focus on the Family released MITI’s book “When Moms Pray Together: True Stories of God’s Power to Transform Your Child,” filled with 25 powerful testimonies of prayers answered in Moms In Touch groups.
The moving stories from around the world reveal God’s power in the midst of life’s greatest trials — including dyslexia, bulimia, sexual trauma and drug addiction — and offer strategies for biblical, faith-filled prayers.
Moms In Touch International is celebrating 25 years of encouraging moms to pray for children and schools. What started as the cry of one mother’s heart as her children went to public junior high school has expanded to include an estimated 175,000 mothers throughout the United States and in more than 130 countries.
To celebrate the special anniversary, Moms In Touch International is hosting Arise! Cry Out! on Nov 14, inviting Christian women from around the world to fast and pray for the generations in more than 1,000 host sites throughout the USA, Russia, Nigeria, Argentina, South Korea, Mexico, Germany, Moldova, India, Japan and approximately 70 other countries.

St. John’s preps for annual auction
St. John the Baptist Catholic Church of Edmond is preparing for its annual Fall Fantasy Auction, a fundraiser benefiting ministries that serve members of the community at large.
“Winter Wonderland,” will be from 6 p.m. to midnight Saturday at the newly remodeled Skirvin Hilton Hotel in downtown Oklahoma City. Silent bid tables will open at 6 p.m.
Items up for auction include special Christmas decorations, a dinner party for eight with a Botox chaser, Oklahoma City Thunder basketball tickets, a framed and autographed photograph of OU women’s basketball coach Sherri Coale and an electric guitar package.
The auction is St. John’s largest fund-raising event of the year. Proceeds benefit St. Elizabeth Ann Seton School and St. John’s ministries including the youth ministry, religious education, senior services, the Samaritan House, the Zachary Houses and the Peru mission, just to name a few.

Muslim groups sponsor children’s benefit concert
Islamic Relief with the support of the Islamic Society Of Greater Oklahoma City and the Council on American Islamic Relations are sponsoring the fourth annual benefit concert for children around the world this Saturday. It will benefit needy children around the world.
Performers will be Hip Hop Muslim rap group Native Deen and from the “Allah Made Me Funny Show,” comedian Mohammad Amer.
“The evening promises to be of great fun and benefit. We look forward to this wonderful event,” said organizer Adam Soltani.
