EDMOND — Gov. Mary Fallin addressed the Edmond Women's Club 30th Anniversary In Bloom Gala on March 2 at Oak Tree Country Club.  The Gala celebrated Edmond Women’s Club volunteerism in the community for the past 30 years.

The Edmond Women's Club raises funds annually for local charities and scholarships. The organization was founded in 1983 by five Edmond woman with a mission to provide monetary assistance to local nonprofits and students as well as providing volunteers for community projects and educational efforts. In the past 30 years, the Edmond Women's Club has raised and donated more than $3 million to the community. In 2012, a total of $90,000 was given to local nonprofits and $12,000 to scholarships for local students.

Last year also marked the beginning of the Edmond Women's Club Ambassador program where 15 high school girls are encouraged to serve in the community alongside EWC members. The purpose is to motivate young leaders to take an active role in their community.
