Hopewell Church nominated to This Place Matters Community Challenge
Hopewell Church in Edmond has been nominated to the National Trust for Historic Preservation’s This Place Matters Community Challenge.
Hopewell Church was designed by Bruce Goff, one of Oklahoma’s most significant architects, and constructed using volunteer labor from the church congregation in the 1950s. Due to deterioration, this architectural icon has sat empty for over a decade and is in serious need of repair.
The Community Challenge allows for communities to nominate and then vote for places that matter most to them. The site to receive the most ‘votes’ will win $25,000 for preservation efforts. The National Trust for Historic Preservation, supported by Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company and National Trust Insurance Services, LLC, are proud to offer this activity to build the capacity of the preservation movement and to really start a national conversation about the places that matter in our communities.
