Gardening together can be a magical pastime for families. Children love the wonder of planting a seed and watching it develop into a strong green plant. The Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History offers a hands-on program to get families started building a container garden together.
Registration is open now for “Family Day Out: Green Family Gardening,” scheduled from 10 a.m. to noon May 17.
Children and adults will work together to create a container herb garden and learn more about organic gardening. Each family will go home with their own container garden.
The cost for the program is $8 per person for museum members, or $10 per person for non-members. Children ages 4 and under are free. Activities are geared for elementary school-age children, but younger and older siblings are welcome. Space is limited, and early registration is encouraged. To register, call the museum education department at 325-4712.
The Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History is on the University of Oklahoma Norman campus. Additional information about this and other programs at the museum is available on the Web at www.snomnh.ou.edu, or by calling 325-4712.
