The Yard of the Week award goes to Al and Barbara Carroll, 3117 Cumberland Drive in the Fairfax Addition.
A pleasing blend of colors and textures greets you as you walk to their front door with beds of red knock-out roses, assorted caladiums, red, white and pink waxleaf begonias, blue stars, lambs ear, multicolored impatiens and dwarf Alberta spruces. Their colorful beds set under large native oaks also contain Japanese red maples, deodard cedars, nandinas, day lillies, Japanese yews, assorted ornamental grasses, pink hydrangeas, iris, gregi salvia, blue hearts and blazing stars. Assorted colorful coleus and cannas, magic carpet spirea, money wort and birds nest yews add extra interest to this delightful yard.

City part of new Tree Bank project
In an effort to combat the risk of skin cancer, the Oklahoma Tree Bank and partners are bringing their Shade Trees on Playgrounds (STOP) program to the City of Edmond. According to the Tree Bank, the unique program intends to lower the risk of melanoma by providing “large, quality shade trees to playgrounds, parks, ball fields and other places children play in the sun.”
