Gore-illa rants provide same-old diatribe

The Edmond Sun

EDMOND To the Editor:

Leaman Harris (“Should we drill in protected areas?” The Edmond Sun, Aug. 7) has provided us another in a series of left wing fantasy solutions to our current energy difficulties. Their bigotry and bias is easily identified by the rampant use of smear words and phrases bordering on hate speech. “Big Oil”; Bush’s or Cheney’s, oil buddies; and on and on — you know the drill. Apparently the biggest sin of Bush is that he is not a lawyer, a real estate crook or a flim-flam artist selling carbon credits.

They also ignore the fact that that fuel prices have doubled, unemployment has increased and inflation has jumped since the 2006 elections in which the moveon.org party, nee Democrat Party, has taken Congress hostage. But when have Democrats ever told the truth?

The Gore-villa mantra questions why “Big Oil” will not drill in all of the current approved areas. The liberal logic is that those greedy capitalists would rather not drill for $130 a barrel of oil in accessible areas today and prefer to spend billions of dollars to seek out oil in difficult regions. That makes perfect business sense to liberals! What is omitted in the liberal flummery is that the geological maps of the “open” areas are 40–50 years old of two-dimensional plats and are totally worthless.

“We can’t drill our way out of this mess” is another inane pile of fertilizer from the left. By not drilling got us into this mess so we are sitting on a trillion barrels of known reserves. Oil from the gulf and California coast can be in our vehicles within 24 months. Oil from ANWR can be flowing within six years by some estimates. Moreover, the legitimate energy plan is to pursue a multitude of options. However, before we can “drain the swamp” to develop a broad spectrum of energy sources we must take care of “the alligators biting us on the butt” of high petroleum costs and limited supply.

A California representative wants to nationalize the “Big Oil” companies a la Hugo Chavez. Most liberals just desire to tax them out of business which was successful during the Carter debacle. Barrack Obama has come up with a scientific technological breakthrough and wants us to inflate our tires! Wait, there’s more! He avers that this will save as much fuel as we would get from off-shore drilling! Which of you dolts out there are driving on semi-inflated or flat tires?

The current Blah-Blah is that T. Boone Pickens, supporter of the Swift Boat Veterans for the Truth refuting Kerry’s lies and traitorous rants, is pushing natural gas and wind mills as alternate sources. Not a bad idea at first glance, but there are issues. The wind farm in west Texas is a billion dollar venture, will supply an added 10 percent to the energy grid and will take 10 years to complete. Where have I heard that 10-year detractor mentioned before?

What is the moveon.org agenda? The Comrade Reid and Pelosi Politburo must strive to keep the proletariat under their thumb. Pelosi provided a working example by not permitting any debate or an up/down vote on energy in the People’s House of Representatives.

Drill here, drill now, pay less and irritate a liberal.
