EDMOND — To the Editor:
Our Rep. Jason Murphey seems to have forgotten the scary mess inherited by the president and the drastic measures indicated to get things back on track. Our representative emphasizes the important concept of states’ rights. But isn’t this a time when the states should be pulling together?
Too much power in the states has in the past created small kingdoms of political bosses and a situation where individual rights are taken away.
One obvious inequity occurred in the South in states where difficult and unreasonable tests were required before a person could vote. It took the weight of federal law to restore individual rights.
Further, we need united effort to avoid extreme depression. It seems to me that if we ever needed to work together with a strong central government, it is now.
