To the Editor:
I thought our Edmond newspaper would be pro-education: for our students and for our nationally board certified teachers. How shocked and hurt I was to read the “Our View” editorial in The Edmond Sun on Feb. 25, 2012.
I vote for things that will make our city better. I instilled in my children to be the best they could be, i.e. I encouraged them to take AP classes at Edmond high schools. I showed them by example, doing my national boards, to strive to be the best teacher I could be.
I work hard every day to help every child I come in contact with in Edmond Public Schools to meet our motto: Empowering all students to succeed in a changing society. I believe a promise is a promise not to be broken. I invite whoever wrote that letter to come shadow me at school and to sign their name(s) to that editorial.
MARY WAGONER received her National Board Certified Teacher status in 2007.
