To the Editor:
On Feb. 14, residents of Edmond Public Schools District 2 have an opportunity to continue the positive momentum of the state of Oklahoma by re-electing Kathleen Duncan to the Edmond Board of Education. A healthy public school system makes our state more attractive to both families and businesses.
Duncan has a clear vision for the district. Included in this well-articulated vision is: construction of new schools to keep up with the growth of the community, creating jobs for our state; continued improvements through efficiency audits; promoting healthy lifestyles through nutritious food offerings and educational programs teaching the importance of healthy eating; and working for smaller class sizes.
Through her leadership students’ lives have been positively impacted through implementation of the School Bullying Prevention Policy, community partnership with Mercy Health Center to improve health/lifestyle of students, safer parking and driving policies, expansion of Pre-Kindergarten program and full-day Kindergarten to be offered in all Edmond schools by fall 2012. Duncan is an impartial advocate for every student, parent, teacher, counselor and administrator.
It is our responsibility to our youth and our state to support our public schools, whether we have school-age children or not. As one of 10 National Certified School Nurses in the state of Oklahoma, I unequivocally support Duncan. If you live in District 2, please vote for Kathleen Duncan for the Edmond School Board.
