To the Editor:
Republicans aren’t the only people who believe in God. Remember, My God is a loving God. My God loves all people.
I don’t need an AK-47 to hunt deer, I use a 1916 Swiss Schmidt-Rubin K-31 Military Carbine or a modified M-1 government-issued six shot clips. Remember where going postal started and by who? We could use a few less hand guns on the market. The words “gun control” are important not to deny.
Pirates were working in Somalia during the Bush Administration with no action taken, Obama gave the order to use all force necessary, killing the first pirates in more than 200 years.
Google John Negroponte and visualize all he did in El Salvadore and the CIA-trained Honduras military that operated the death squads in the ’80s kidnapping and killing thousands in the name of big oil or the failed coup on the legally elected President Hugo Chavez for big oil. Wouldn’t the U.S. classify these as terrorist attacks if done to these United States. Recognizing and admitting wrongs to others is a good thing. We legally tried, convicted and executed Japanese for war crimes such as water torture yet condone the same treatment to our enemies. Obama is trying to fix a broken system.
Wind power is working. Hooray for clean alternative fuels where Edmond is a leader. Oil companies are cutting back on drilling because of a glut on the market, where is that “Drill Baby Drill?" I can fill my gas tank with $1.60 a gallon gasoline not Bush-Cheney $4 per gallon gasoline.
Janet Napolitano wants to go after the employers who hire and exploit the illegal immigrants, which will get rid of the jobs that bring those illegals. Look at the roofing crews or concrete finishers working in your neighborhood. If they have to hire a foreman who speaks Spanish, who causes the problem?
Cancel the contract on overpriced F-22 fighters to purchase the less expensive more versatile F35 that can be used by all branches of the military sounds Intelligent to me and Intelligence in purchasing for our military has been lacking for a long time.
Same sex marriage I find hard to understand. After looking at myself in the mirror, I find it hard to believe that my wife wanted me, but thank God she did. I don’t feel threatened by someone else’s desires and I hate to deny anyone life’s happiness or beliefs as long as it doesn’t interfere with my own. Somewhere I remember the words “pursuit of happiness.”

LETTER: Supporter calls Duncan caring, interactive
To the Editor:
In my 43-year career as a professor at the University of Central Oklahoma I wrote many a letter of recommendation for deserving students for jobs, graduate and professional schools and scholarships. Those letters are read by busy people who have important decisions to contemplate and my belief is they ought to be brief and on point. This is such a letter. -
LETTER: Supporter applauds Duncan’s persistent dedication
To the Editor:
I am writing this letter to support and endorse the re-election of Kathleen Duncan to the Edmond Board of Education next Tuesday. I’ve been an Edmond resident for the past 20 years, and because I don’t live in District 2, I cannot cast my vote for Duncan, but I do pay a considerable amount in taxes to the Edmond Public School District. -
LETTER: Duncan lends watchful eye to school district
To the Editor:
Kathleen Duncan serves tirelessly in her capacity as an Edmond Board of Education member. A former teacher, school counselor and Oklahoma County Assistant District Attorney, she has the time to go into our schools and hear the needs of teachers, students and staff. When she hears of needs, she has the time and experience to share those issues with the appropriate administrators for investigation and resolution. - More Letters to the Editor Headlines
