EDMOND — To the Editor:
In “Locals protest at tea party,” (April 16, 2009, The Edmond Sun), the story features the protest rally held at the state Capitol April 15. In it, the remarks of several people, and a picture of one attendee, are featured. Two of the quoted remarks, and the picture’s caption, included statements that the event was “non-partisan” politically.
Although I did not attend the “party,” I watched two local television news reports on it. Numerous signs were displayed, with various statements about bailouts, taxes, indebtedness, etc.; more than a few of them identified the Obama Administration or President Obama personally, as the miscreant.
That was interesting, because I didn’t see one sign identifying the Bush administration, or George W. Bush personally, in connection with his Troubled Asset Relief Package enacted last fall, which provided $700 billion to bail out the several banks and other financial institutions that created the mess. Nor do I remember any “tea parties” being held at that time.
Maybe I just missed seeing those things. If any reader did see them, please write in and make it known, in the interest of non-partisanship.

Politicians need to be more factual
Like many fellow citizens of Edmond, I have observed the strenuous campaign for District 41 state Senate seat between Paul Blair and Clark Jolley. During my 24 years in Edmond, I can’t recall the level of effort and money spent for a state Senate seat.

Who’s responsible, the Old or the New?

A level playing field in Edmond may never be the same after the workshop at the City Council Chambers April 10 at high noon. The medicine men sold the audience on how wonderful the new complex will be at the corner of Interstate 35 and Covell. -
