Attorney general to speak at Edmond memorial dedication
Oklahoma Attorney General Drew Edmondson is historically qualified to be part of Saturday’s ceremony honoring the city’s World War II veterans. Back in the day, his parents, Ed and June Edmondson, met and married in San Diego. His mother was a member of the Navy WAVEs and his father was a Navy lieutenant who commanded gun crews on a merchant marine ship.

Edmond residents give police officer a lift
An Edmond Police officer has a little less to worry about thanks to a group of weightlifters who raised $7,000 for his family. Last weekend, other police officers and members of the public pumped iron and did other exercises for Kennedy Stearns. The 8-year-old is the daughter of Police Officer Jason Stearns.

Church takes VBS into community An Edmond church is taking vacation Bible school into the community through an outreach program that includes a series of events in July. Lori Jirousek, Kids’ Ministries program coordinator for the First Presbyterian Church of Edmond, said a planning team spent a lot of time in prayer as they determined how VBS should look this year.

Wedding customer faces shoplifting complaint
A 26-year-old Texas woman faces shoplifting complaints after allegedly shopping for items for a wedding and not paying for them, police said. On Monday, police were dispatched to Isabella, 1389 E. 15th St., in reference to a shoplifter in custody, according to a police report. Police were told that as the suspect was leaving the front door, sensors set off the security alarm.
