EDMOND Edmond’s dueling pianists perform Tuesday

DuoFisher, Edmond’s own “Dueling Pianists” will perform at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the UCO Jazz Club at Fifth and Littler.

They will feature Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue,” “Chopsticks Variations” arranged by the Fishers, their favorite selections from the musical “My Fair Lady,” the “Warsaw Concerto” plus a few serious classical selections as well.

Admission is free and open to the public. More information may be obtained by calling 330-1902.



Grant writing training seminar set

The Acorn Project for Non-Profit Planning and Sustainability, a nonprofit training organization, is offering a seminar on grant writing to be held in Guthrie. “Research and Writing Winning Grants-Level I” will be from 1-5 p.m. Wednesday at the Guthrie Chamber of Commerce, 212 W. Oklahoma St. in Guthrie.

The Acorn Project, a nonprofit organization, focuses on how to find funding, secure funding and promote organizations and services. The seminar is geared toward all nonprofit organizations, municipal departments such as fire and police departments, city planning and Chambers of Commerce, as well as tribal, youth and faith-based groups. The training seminar will teach participants grant writing basics as well as researching and accessing funding sources. A funding resource list will be provided.

The fee for the seminar is $75 per person and pre-registration is required. Interested persons may contact the Acorn Project by phone at 580-491-8357 or by e-mail at acorngrants@aol.com.



RedHawks promote value of season ticket

The Oklahoma RedHawks announced season tickets for the 2008 season are still available in great locations throughout AT&T Bricktown Ballpark.

The RedHawks open the season at home Thursday, just six days after hosting an exhibition game between the team’s parent club, the Texas Rangers, and the Chicago White Sox.

Oklahoma Mother’s Clubs to have convention

Members of Edmond Moms Mothers Club of Edmond will attend the annual convention of the Oklahoma Mother’s Clubs April 4 and 5 at the Biltmore Hotel in Oklahoma City.

O.A.M.C. President Glenda Hisey, of Ponca City, will preside at the convention, the theme of which is “70th Diamond Jubilee.” During the Friday banquet, a check will be presented to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, the state association’s project.

Election and installation of the officers will be held for 2008-09. The officers are nominated from clubs across the state. Edmond Moms Mothers Club of Edmond will serve as the banquet hostess club.



Good Books Club to meet

The Good Books Club will meet at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Bradford Village Community Center, 300 Enz Drive.

A book review by Ginger LaCroix will be given. Everyone is welcome to attend. Visitors pay $3.



Single adults gather monthly for game night

Christian Singles of Central Oklahoma is having a game night at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Community Church, Interstate 35 and Seward Road in Guthrie.

KOMA 92.5 brings Taste of Home Cooking School to Oklahoma City

Tired of hearing “What’s for dinner?” and never having a new answer? Then you’ll want to attend the Taste of Home Cooking School “Swing into Spring” show on Saturday, presented by KOMA 92.5, at The Cathedral, located at the corner of Council and Wilshire in Oklahoma City.

Featured will be Taste of Home culinary specialist Jamie Dunn, who will share tricks that help to ensure all your cooking endeavors are successful once you’re back in your own kitchen.

The public is welcome to visit booths from local vendors during the free exhibition that opens at 1 p.m. The cooking school itself begins at 6:30 p.m.

General admission for the school is $10, if purchased in advance, or $15 at the door. VIP tickets are $15. In addition to admission, ticket holders will receive a gift bag full of coupons and the Taste of Home Brand Name Cookbook, featuring 157 new recipes.

Come join the Edmond Running Club

The Edmond Running Club will start its seasonal social fun walk or run at 6:30 p.m. April 8 at Mitch Park.

Members and nonmembers alike are invited to enjoy a 2- to 3-mile walk, starting at the north side of Marilyn Williams Drive. Everyone is welcome to join in this monthly fun walk/run. Look for the Edmond Running Club banner.
