Camp named pilot site for Billy Graham effort

— Clayton-based Minnetonka Christian Camp has been invited by the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association to serve as a pilot site for BGEA’s new youth evangelism training resource.
Minnetonka has announced its summer training for BGEA’s “Dare to Be a Daniel” project that will take place July 25-29, and that it is now taking church and individual reservations for the camp and training.
Dare to Be a Daniel, created by the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, is innovative evangelism training for “tweens” (children ages 9-14), and is designed to equip them to live boldly for Jesus Christ and share Christ with their friends. Minnetonka will be one of the first groups to teach the new five-session curriculum in a camp setting.
“We are thrilled to be a part of the awesome work God has done and continues to do through the Dare to Be a Daniel project,” said Tom Crites, executive director of Minnetonka.
The Rev. Donnie Foster of Faith Baptist Church in Madisonville, Texas, who has a wealth of experience working with youth, as well as leading conferences and retreats, will be the camp week director while Dare to Be a Daniel will be taught at Minnetonka.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for Minnetonka to expand its ministries,” said Chris Knowles, chairman of the Minnetonka Christian Camp board, which voted unanimously to accept BGEA’s invitation.
Dare to Be a Daniel Camp at Minnetonka is a full-throttle, five-day camp, a summer adventure created exclusively for ages 9-11 and 12-14, designed to give campers practical evangelism training through inspiring speakers and exciting activities.
Through each of five sessions campers will learn to dare to be different for God, dare to be disciplined and know Jesus better, dare to be discerning with choices and friends, dare to be his disciple through self-sacrifice and humility and to dare to share and be prepared to tell the good news of God’s love through Jesus Christ.
