May is National Osteoporosis Prevention Month. To increase awareness in the local community, Bone & Joint Hospital is offering free bone-density screenings and an educational program from noon to 4 p.m. May 20 at Touchmark at Coffee Creek, 2801 Shortgrass Road in Edmond.
Dr. Ted Boehm, a primary-care sports medicine physician at the Oklahoma Sports & Orthopedics Institute, will speak about the dangers of osteoporosis as well as discuss prevention and treatment of the disease.
The bone-density screenings will be from noon to 1 p.m. and 2-4 p.m. Boehm’s presentation is scheduled for 2 p.m. While there is no charge for the screening and seminar, people are advised to register by calling 340-1975.
