Police are investigating the theft of 25 cartons of cigarettes from an Edmond pharmacy, captured by video surveillance cameras.
Glynda Chu, spokeswoman for the Edmond Police Department, said police believe the Edmond burglary is connected to burglaries in recent days of other CVS pharmacies in Shawnee, Oklahoma City, Mustang and Warr Acres.
The morning of May 22, police were dispatched to the CVS Pharmacy at 1520 S. Bryant Ave. in reference to an alarm, according to a police report.
While police were on the way, dispatch said the alarm company was able to see broken glass and a subject inside the store via in-store cameras. At the scene, police found a large rock on the floor in front of the broken window.
Police said they found that two shelves of the cigarette display behind the cash registers had been cleaned out and concluded that 25 cartons of Marlboro cigarettes worth a total of $1,214 were missing.
Surveillance footage shows the suspect entering the store early Friday morning carrying a large blue tub to the cigarette display, police said. Minutes later, the suspect is seen exiting the store carrying the tub, which is filled with the cigarette cartons.
Police said the suspect is a white male about 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall with a medium build. The suspect in the Edmond pharmacy burglary was wearing the same shoes as the other burglars.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Edmond Crimestoppers at 359-4466. Callers may remain anonymous.
