Police catch ‘beer bandit’

John A. Williams
The Edmond Sun

EDMOND The Wal-Mart beer bandit apparently went back for refills, only to be grabbed by several store employees.

Edmond Police recently arrested 33-year-old Michael Dale Alexander of Union City as he was allegedly attempting to leave the I-35 Wal-Mart with a basket full of beer.

The security employee told police he allegedly recognized Alexander as the one who made off with several hundred dollars in beer June 5.

According to a police report, the Wal-Mart security worker approached the suspect in the parking lot. As the suspect said he had a receipt, he allegedly lifted up the worker before other workers detained him.

Alexander was transported to the Edmond City Jail on a complaint of shoplifting.
