2 local women join county CASA

The Edmond Sun

Deborah Orcutt and Leslee Rahbar recently were sworn in as Court Appointed Special Advocates, having completed 34 hours of basic training.

The Honorable Richard Kirby, associatedistrictjudge and presiding judge of the Juvenile Division, gave them the Oath of Office along with seven other area residents. Family members, friends and CASA staff were in attendance.

Orcutt, who has volunteered for a few years with Infant Crisis Services, said she was looking for a way to help children who have been abused and neglected. After investigating various opportunities, she decided CASA would be good way to realize her ambition.

A mother of two small girls, ages 1 and 4, Rahbar said,: “When I found out how impactful CASA can be in helping the little ones who have been so mistreated and neglected, I just knew it was the right place for me.”

“We’re very pleased to have Mrs. Orcutt and Mrs. Rahbar to join our CASA team,” said volunteer recruiter Alex Corbitt. “They are both very passionate about wanting to help.”

CASA of Oklahoma County is a private, nonprofit charitable organization advocating for the best interests of abused and neglected children.

Anyone interested in learning more about CASA may call Corbitt at 713-6607.
