EDMOND Police arrest female mail thief

A 42-year-old Rush Springs woman faces a theft-related complaint for allegedly stealing pieces of mail from Edmond mail boxes, police said.

Early Monday morning police were dispatched to the 700 block of Lapwing Drive in response to larceny from a mailbox, according to a police report.

When police arrived, they located the suspect walking along Lapwing Drive, displaying nervous behavior, carrying a purse with mail visible sticking out of the top, police said.

Police asked the suspect what she was doing in the neighborhood and she reportedly said she was trying to walk home because her car had broken down. The suspect then pulled the bundle of mail out of her purse and said, “I found this laying on the ground and picked it up so I could turn it in.”

Police told the suspect they were responding to a call about a female who had been seen taking mail out of mail boxes in the area. The suspect then threw the mail onto the ground.

After questioning victims, police arrested Lisa Darlene Mallouf, 42, of Rush Springs, on a complaint of receiving stolen property. She was transported to the city jail.

Not every incident leads to a charge under the law. If charges are filed, innocence or guilt is determined by a court of law.

Police log social host arrests

A 22-year-old Edmond man and a 21-year-old Edmond woman have been arrested for allegedly violating the city’s social host law, police said.

Early Tuesday morning, police were dispatched to assist EMSA at 224 W. Ninth St. on an unconscious subject, according to a police report.

Police said they spoke to a man who told them his 16-year-old son, who was staying at a residence to care for an elderly male, was “dragged over and placed into the bathroom” by three males. The minor was said to be extremely intoxicated and vomiting.

Police said the suspects brought the minor from a neighboring home. Police then went to 228 W. Ninth St., where they found the minor on the floor of the bathroom. He appeared to be extremely intoxicated and there was vomit all around him, police said. EMSA arrived and transported the minor to Edmond Medical Center.

At the residence, police questioned a 19-year-old who had been drinking alcohol. Police arrested Rance Wayne Wilson, 22, of Edmond, and Stephanie Alyce Scherber, 21, of Edmond, for violating the city’s social host law.

Both were transported to the city jail, where a search of Wilson revealed a small glass pipe. Police said they smelled an odor of marijuana coming from the pipe, which also contained marijuana residue. In addition to the social host complaint, Wilson was arrested on a possession of drug paraphernalia complaint.

Edmond woman listed in critical condition

Oklahoma County sheriff’s deputies were called to the scene of a single-vehicle wreck around 7 p.m. Monday on North Rockwell between N.W. 178th and N.W. 164th.

A Ford Explorer driven by Jennifer Hinton, 21, of Edmond, was northbound on Rockwell when for some reason the vehicle veered to the east side of the road toward a ditch, deputies said. Hinton then over-corrected the vehicle back to the west side, rolling the vehicle.

Hinton was ejected from the SUV and suffered major head trauma. Hinton was airlifted to OU Medical Center, and is currently listed in critical condition, deputies said.
