A temporary transit transfer center was placed Monday in the northwest corner parking lot of the Festival Market Place along First Street just west of Broadway. Starting at 5:50 a.m. today, the new Citylink bus service replaces the Eddy Trolley Service for the City of Edmond. Those who use the transit center will be able to park vehicles during the day in the city parking lot at this location.
Shannon Entz, Edmond’s Community Development Block Grant coordinator, said residents can find specific bus routes and schedules at the city’s Web site, edmondok.com. For those without Internet access, Entz said she will mail, fax and e-mail schedules to those requesting them. Schedules also will be handed out on the buses this week.
The transit transfer center as well as Crest Foods, 2200 S.W. 15th St., and 33rd Street and Broadway are all designated bus stops. Entz said the city and McDonald Transit will continue to refine where additional bus stops will be located as the service starts up.
“We have not designated bus stops just yet,” Entz said. “We’re waiting to see where people are along the route.”
The buses in town are expected to run their routes about every 30 minutes. McDonald Transit has hired 14 bus drivers for the local service. Citylink Customer Service information is available at 417-6068.
