A 26-year-old Texas woman faces shoplifting complaints after allegedly shopping for items for a wedding and not paying for them, police said.
On Monday, police were dispatched to Isabella, 1389 E. 15th St., in reference to a shoplifter in custody, according to a police report. Police were told that as the suspect was leaving the front door, sensors set off the security alarm.
Police said store personnel stopped the suspect, who possessed items valued at $152. When asked why she stole the items, the suspect told police she needed them for a wedding she was attending in Edmond.
Police were told the suspect likely possessed other items from other area retailers. Shoes valued at $208 were stolen from the Pink Sugar Shoe Boutique, 1389 E. 15th St., police said. Other items were taken from Francesca Collections, 1470 S. Bryant.
Courtney Marie McGee, 26, of Burnet, Texas, was arrested on shoplifting-related complaints and transported to the city jail, according to Edmond Police.
Not every incident leads to a charge under the law. If charges are filed, innocence or guilt is determined by a court of law.
