Police log social host, drug arrests at Arcadia Lake

EDMOND — A 19-year-old Yukon man was arrested on a complaint of violating the city’s underage drinking law, police said.

On July 24, two Edmond Police officers were on foot patrol in the Bobcat camping area of Central State Park, 7900 E. Second St., where they heard loud and continuous noise, according to an incident report filed by Officer Sean Bryant.

As police approached one of the campsites, they saw an unidentified suspect grab a clear baggy from the table and quickly shove it into a pocket of his shorts, police said. Part of the baggie was still visible and police were able to see inside a green substance the officer believed to marijuana, the police report states.

The contents proved to be marijuana and the suspect was then handcuffed, police said. Police then observed a marijuana tipped “blunt” on the table and several open beer cans. Police asked if anyone was 21 years old. One individual was 17, two were 16 and a female was 15.

Police said they learned the campsite was being rented by Cory Robert Herrell, 19, of Yukon. Police arrested Herrell on a complaint of violating the city’s social host law, which prohibits permitting or allowing a gathering at which minors consume an alcoholic beverage. The legal drinking age is 21.

Several juveniles also were arrested.
