Edmond Electric Distribution Superintendent Dean Sherrick recently was recognized by Municipal Electric Systems of Oklahoma with its Ray Duffy Personal Service Award — the association’s highest honor.
The award was presented during the annual meeting of the Municipal Electric Systems of Oklahoma and the Oklahoma Municipal League at the Cox Convention Center in Oklahoma City.
Sherrick was recognized for an outstanding career of service to Edmond Electric and to public power systems. Electric system capacity in Edmond has more than tripled during his tenure.
He has led the utility through major conversion projects in two subdivisions, removing aging overhead facilities and replacing those with modern underground services. The projects served some 2,000 people and were featured in several nationwide industry magazine articles, bringing national attention to Oklahoma.
Sherrick is a native of Edmond. His service to the city transcends his service to the local community. Public power systems were happy to salute him for that service and leadership by presenting him with the Ray Duffy Personal Service Award.
