OMPA recognizes Lamb’s contributions

The Edmond Sun

EDMOND On Thursday, Cindy Holman, Oklahoma Municipal Power Authority’s general manager, presented Charles Lamb, Edmond City Council member and OMPA board chairman, with a framed picture of the Redbud power plant.

OMPA partnered with Oklahoma Gas and Electric Company and Grand River Dam Authority in the purchase of the 1,230-megawatt gas-fired Redbud Power Plant near Luther.

The Redbud plant purchase was finalized on Sept. 29. OMPA owns a 13 percent share of the plant. The Redbud unit is a combined-cycle, gas-fired plant connected to the OG&E transmission system near the Oklahoma City area.

“The Redbud facility is located in the center of the OMPA service area and is very important to the future power supply needs of our members. We are pleased with the addition of this highly efficient, gas-fired facility to our power supply program and we have a high regard for OG&E as the plant operator,” Holman said.

The Redbud plant provides about 158 megawatts of additional power supply for the 36 OMPA member cities, of which Edmond is the largest member.
