Planning Commission to consider "Grace" plan

John A. Williams
The Edmond Sun

EDMOND The Edmond Planning Commission will consider the preliminary and final plat for the Grace Living Center planned expansion east of Rankin and south of Ridgecrest addition during Tuesday’s meeting.

Owner Don Greiner eventually hopes to remodel all the buildings on the site, including 248 units to be built in three phases.

A proposed “Eden alternative” residence for senior citizens similar to a center in Jenks ultimately will offer a wing for Alzheimer’s patients or those who suffer from dementia and the possibility of two preschool/kindergarten classrooms operated by Edmond Public Schools.

Unveiled during a 2006 City Council meeting, the plans for the first phase will include a two-story structure to replace the original 58 nursing home beds with 71 new beds.

Consideration of an amendment to Edmond Plan III for property on the southeast corner of Covell and Sooner by the Covell 35 Development LLC has been continued to Oct. 2 at the request of applicant.

And a rezoning request by the Merrick Family Real Estate LLC, the owners of Irongate and the Mid-America Self Storage, that could place modular buildings, boats, trailers or cars at Edmond’s entry on Broadway has been withdrawn by the family.
