UCO students join in Poverty Awareness Week

The Edmond Sun

This week, students at the University of Central Oklahoma are participating in “Shack-a-thon,” part of the university’s Poverty Awareness Week. Student teams competed in raising money for Infant Crisis Services. The participants are spending the week living in student-made tents to bring awareness to poverty issues.

Other events taking place in conjunction with Poverty Awareness Week include a petting zoo from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday to raise money for Heifer International, a group that donates livestock to families in need in developing countries.

The film “Sicko” will screen at 7 p.m. on Wednesday in Constitution Hall. All events are open to the public.
