Missile threat documentary to premier at OC

The Edmond Sun

Heritage Foundation’s documentary, 33 Minutes: Protecting America in the New Missile Age, will premier at 6 p.m. Oct. 24 in the Hardeman Auditorium on the campus of Oklahoma Christian University. OC’s Academy of Leadership and Liberty is hosting the premier.

"33 Minutes is a riveting, eye-opening one-hour documentary that tells the story of the very real threat foreign enemies pose to all Americans," said Dr. Brian Bush, executive director of the Academy of Leadership and Liberty. "The truth is brutal — no matter where on earth a missile is launched, it would take only 33 minutes or less to hit a U.S. target.

"One of the goals of OC’s Academy of Leadership and Liberty is to ensure our students, faculty and staff are given meaningful opportunities to engage thoughtfully about the significant issues of our time," Bush said. "While we do not expect everyone to agree on how best to address this important topic, it is our hope to stimulate substantive dialogue on the matter and raise awareness of the issue. We hope that everyone interested in this topic would make attending this event a priority."

With nuclear proliferation round the world, the threat of a ballistic missile attack is rapidly increasing according to the Heritage Foundation. Many rogue nations and terrorist organizations are either developing or seeking ballistic missiles and nuclear technology. 33 Minutes features rare footage and in-depth interviews with leading experts in the field. It exposes the untold vulnerability Americans face and the actions necessary to revive a strategic missile defense system.

Following the documentary, former U.S. Rep. Ernest Istook will moderate a panel discussion.

Admission to the event is free, and guests are invited take part in this critical and informative discussion. The Oklahoma Christian University campus is located at 2501 E. Memorial Road. For more information call 425-1065 or visit http://www.oc.edu/academy.
