EDMOND — Bureau encourages mail-back of census questionnaires saves taxpayer dollars

The 2010 Census is well under way, with the U.S. Census Bureau mailing 2010 Census questionnaires to about 120 million addresses nationwide. The questionnaires will arrive March 15-17. Residents are encouraged to complete the 10-question census form when it arrives and to return it in the accompanying pre-paid envelope as soon as possible.

Your answers to the 2010 Census are kept confidential and protected by federal law. Every Census Bureau employee must take an oath and is subject to 5 years in prison or a $250,000 fine or both if they disclose any information that could identify you or your household. Your information is only used for statistical purposes.

The 2010 Census is an actual count of everyone living in the United States and it is mandated by the U.S. Constitution. Census data is used to allocate congressional seats to the states and to distribute more than $400 billion in federal funds to tribal, state and local governments each year.



2010 International Reflections of Hope Award to honor President Clinton

 The Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum will honor President Bill Clinton for his work in helping Oklahoma City transform following the bombing of the federal building almost 15 years ago and for his international peace work during his presidency and over the past decade.

President Clinton founded the William J. Clinton Foundation to focus on worldwide issues that demand urgent actions, solutions and measurable actions. The Foundation’s mission is to strengthen the capacity of people in the United States and around the world to meet the challenges of global interdependence

    My Birth Center at OU Medical Center Edmond delivered its 100th baby at 7:42 a.m. Friday, 44 years after the hospital’s first 100th baby was born in 1968. My Birth Center opened in September, becoming the first birth place available in Edmond since 2005.

  • Logan Co. Democrats to meet Monday

    The Logan County Democratic Committee will have its monthly meeting on Monday.
    The main order of business will be Get Out the Vote for the April 3 state Senate race. Precinct officers are encouraged to attend. In addition to business and planning items, the group will celebrate Logan County Democrats with birthdays in February.
