The Edmond Sun
Creative costumes were abundant in downtown Edmond Wednesday evening during the city’s annual Trick or Treat on the Street.
Throngs of local and metro area residents turned out for the two-hour event, when youngsters of all ages put on their favorite costume during a safe and fun Halloween.
Merchants and representatives from the City of Edmond, the University of Central Oklahoma, the Edmond Police Department and the Edmond Fire Department passed out treats to the kiddos. Lines were also bustling at bounce houses.
The U.S. Census Bureau reports that the estimated number of potential trick-or-treaters age 5-14 across the United States was 41 million in 2011. That year, an estimated $113 million in pumpkins were harvested from the top six pumpkin producing states — Illinois, California, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Michigan.
