A district judge has given an Edmond man convicted of sexually abusing his stepdaughter a 20-year prison sentence.
Last week, Oklahoma County District Judge Kenneth Watson sentenced Robert Andrew Williamson, 45, of Edmond, to 20 years in prison and 20 years probation.
In June, after a six-day trial, a jury found Williamson, a former employee of Edmond Medical Center, which has since become OU Medical Center Edmond, guilty on three of four counts of lewd or indecent acts with a child under 16, and recommended a 60-year prison sentence.
Police said the abuse began when the victim was in first grade.
In count one, Williamson was accused of exposing himself to the victim in August 2007.
In count two, he was accused of exposing himself to her and asking her to perform a sex act on him in November 2008.
In count three, he was accused of having her fondle him in August 2007.
In count four, he was accused of performing a sex act in front of her in November 2008.
Williamson was found guilty on counts one, three and four, and not guilty on count two. He received a 20-year sentence on count one, and a 20-year concurrent suspended sentence on counts three and four.
The suspended sentence equates to 20 years of probation. As long as he does not violate his parole conditions, he would not have to serve that part of the sentence, said Oklahoma County First Assistant District Attorney Scott Rowland.
Upon release, Williamson would have to follow special conditions for sex offenders, and he was ordered to pay $880 in restitution by Oct. 1.
Rowland said prosecutors were “a little disappointed” with the sentence, but accept it. The judge presided over the trial, heard the facts and made his decision, Rowland said.
David Henry, listed as Williamson’s lead attorney, did not reply Tuesday to a message seeking comment.
Currently, Williamson is being held at the Central District Sheridan Office in Oklahoma City, according to the Oklahoma Department of Corrections offender look-up database.
In court, Williamson testified he worked for Edmond Medical Center. A laptop used by the defendant, owned by the hospital, was searched during the investigation, court records show.
The case was investigated by the Edmond Police Department. Prosecutors have said they expect the verdict will be appealed.
