OKLAHOMA CITY —
The Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office is in the process of filling detention officer academies.
Starting salary for detention officers is $1,957 per month while attending the six-week academy then $2,212 per month upon graduation from the academy, according to information released by the sheriff’s office.
Benefits include: Comprehensive health care, dental, vision and prescription drugs; paid holidays and annual sick leave; and employer paid retirement.
Detention officer duties consist of supervising inmates — this includes observing, searching, processing inmates in accordance to county policies, regulations and procedures.
To be considered applicants must not have any felony convictions and pass a background check.
