EDMOND —
Integris Health’s Hospice of Oklahoma County is looking for people with caring, compassionate hearts to help with non-medical tasks for terminally ill persons. Families of hospice patients spend their nights and days focusing on the comfort of their loved one. They take short breaks when they can; many of which are possible because of the generosity of patient care volunteers.
A patient care volunteer may run errands for a caregiver, stay with a patient while a caregiver takes a break, or even become a companion to a patient who may still be living alone or in a nursing home. A free, two-week training session is provided for prospective volunteers.
Training begins Feb. 5. Cal 848-8884 to enroll. Contact Ruth Ann Frick, volunteer coordinator for more information.
