EDMOND —
Three auto burglaries reported from the same Edmond neighborhood are believed to be connected; one of the victims was a U.S. marshal, police said.
Police spokeswoman Jenny Monroe said there were three reports of auto burglary earlier this week in the same neighborhood. One of the victims was a federal agent and equipment was stolen from his vehicle, Monroe said. Numerous items were taken from the other vehicles involved as well.
“We believe these three reports are related,” she said.
The incidents were reported at locations west of Coltrane, south of Coffee Creek and north of Covell.
On Dec. 3, Officer Paul Phillips went to a home on Ashebriar Lane where the reporting party was standing next to the victim’s vehicle. The driver’s side rear door window was broken out.
The victim said he is a deputy U.S. marshal and his urban assault tactical vest had been stolen, Phillips stated. A stun gun, a 2-way surveillance radio and four 30-round .223-caliber magazines were attached to the vest. Nothing else in the government vehicle had been disturbed.
In surveillance video footage, a person is seen approaching the home from the southeast, Phillips stated. The person walks around two vehicles in the driveway and looks into them with a flashlight, the report stated. The person then goes to the driver’s side of the marshal’s vehicle and leaves walking east on foot.
About 13 minutes later, a vehicle approaches from the east and pulls into a nearby driveway, Phillips stated. The driver turns off the headlights and leaves heading east toward Coltrane with its lights still off, the report stated. It stops for a couple of seconds at a nearby intersection before continuing east.
A second incident report, also filed by Phillips, regarded an auto burglary at a home on the same street. In this case, the front passenger window was broken out. Three DVD system monitors valued at a total of $1,500, a child car seat and a tool box were missing, the report stated.
A third incident report, also filed by Phillips, regarded an auto burglary on the same street. In this case, the driver’s side rear door window was broken out. A $250 subwoofer, $250 amplifier and a $200 car stereo head unit were missing, the report stated.

3 miles of Broadway restoration nears completion
Work to restore 3 miles of Broadway from Waterloo to Simpson was near completion Friday, said Mark Sharpton, District 1 county commissioner. Atlas Paving Company began the process of resurfacing the road this week.
“Another improvement on the roadway will be the application of new safety striping,” Sharpton said.
