Edmond 15-year-old accused of raping his grandmother

EDMOND — A 15-year-old Edmond teen is accused of allegedly raping his grandmother, court documents show.

On Monday, criminal probable cause paperwork proceedings were filed against the suspect in Oklahoma County District Court. Part of the filing is an affidavit of probable cause filed by Edmond Police Detective Michael Chesley.

Saturday afternoon the victim called the Edmond Police Department to report that her 15-year-old grandson had raped her in her home, according to the affidavit. The victim told an Edmond officer that the suspect lives in another state, but has been staying with her since July 2, according to the affidavit.

She said she takes medication at night for medical reasons and it puts her to sleep, according to the affidavit. When she awoke on July 12 her private parts were hurting and she noticed her panties were missing, police said. She said she found them under the bed and they had been cut, police said.

She said she was scared to sleep in the same bed as the boy so she slept on the couch on July 12, according to the affidavit. At about 11 p.m. that night she awoke on the couch with the boy thrusting against her, police said. She yelled his name and she said he ran to the bathroom saying, “I just touched you,” police said.

Just before the victim reported the incident to the EPD the boy’s uncle had picked him up to take him to his apartment in Oklahoma City to hang out together for a while, according to the affidavit.

While he was on the way the victim called the uncle and told him what the boy had done to her, according to the affidavit. He was close to the Oklahoma City Police Department Hefner substation so he stopped there to get help, police said. Oklahoma City police called the EPD and two Edmond officers escorted the boy to the EPD station, police said.

According to the affidavit the uncle confronted the boy about the incident and he reportedly said “I cut her panties off while she was in bed and had sex with grandma” and that he “had sex with grandma on the couch.”

Later, Chesley was told the sexual assault exam was complete and the results could be picked up, he stated in the affidavit. Based on the facts and circumstances Chesley believed sufficient probable cause to have the teen stand for one count of first-degree rape.

3 miles of Broadway restoration nears completion
Work to restore 3 miles of Broadway from Waterloo to Simpson was near completion Friday, said Mark Sharpton, District 1 county commissioner. Atlas Paving Company began the process of resurfacing the road this week.
“Another improvement on the roadway will be the application of new safety striping,” Sharpton said.
A recent bid letting by the Oklahoma Department of Transportation resulted in Action Supply being the lowest bidder at $27,752.30. The bid will be awarded June 3, Sharpton said.
