EDMOND — School will be in session today across Edmond in spite of the city's first full blast of wintry weather during the weekend.
Edmond Public Schools are in session this morning on its regular schedule, while Deer Creek Public Schools are on Thanksgiving break this week with classes resuming Dec. 2, according to the district's website. Oklahoma Christian School and Oklahoma Christian Academy students also get to stay home today due to already scheduled Thanksgiving breaks.
The Oklahoma Christian University campus plans to open at 9 a.m. today out of respect for the stil somewhat icy conditions on Edmond roadways.
With temperatures only 1 degree above freezing, morning commuters are advised by the National Weather Service and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol to take it slow and give themselves extra time to make it to their destinations. The Oklahoma Department of Safety reports roadways across the metro area as still slick in some areas.
