Edmond School District’s Superintendent of Schools David Goin, announced his retirement Wednesday at the principal’s meeting to be effective July 15, 2015. He shared that information with the Parent Advisory Council Thursday.
“As far as the Edmond Board of Education is concerned, Dr. Goin has been aware of his retirement timeline for the past two years and shared that with the board,” said School Board President Jamie Underwood. “We will be discussing the procedure we will follow in the coming months as we will be the ones leading the search for a new superintendent. At this time plans are in the preliminary stages of development.”
Underwood went on to say, “Dr. Goin is very well respected, perhaps one of the most respected leaders in Edmond as well as the state. His leadership and knowledge will be greatly missed. He is the backbone of the district. He truly cares about the students, teachers and district. He is passionate about the district and it has been shown in his leadership of the district.
“One of the things we will be looking for is a man of character like him. He is a man of great character and an outstanding leader.”
Dr. Goin came to the district in 1994 and took over the superintendent position in 1999.
