Prosecutors have filed a formal felony charge against an Edmond man arrested on a complaint related to the alleged solicitation of a minor via Craigslist, according to court records.
Friday afternoon, Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation spokeswoman Jessica Brown said a member of the OSBI Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force arrested the man that morning after a two-month-long investigation into solicitation for sex with minors via Craigslist.
The task force member arrested Michael Dean Osburn, 42, when he traveled to Guthrie allegedly believing he was meeting a 15-year-old boy for sex, Brown said.
Osburn was arrested in the 200 block of Woodlawn Drive in Guthrie and booked into the Logan County jail on a complaint of violating the Oklahoma Computer Crimes Act and solicitation of sexual conduct of a minor with the use of technology, Brown said.
On Monday, the Logan County District Attorney’s Office filed a felony lewd/indecent proposal to a child under 16 charge against the suspect, according to district court records.
The defendant appeared in court where he was advised of his rights and the charge filed against him. Bond was set at $250,000. The court set the case on the preliminary hearing docket for Aug. 22.
