Road Construction Begins on University Drive

Work will create bicycle lanes and modify traffic signal

EDMOND — Roadway and sidewalk improvements began this week on University Drive between Second Street and Chowning Avenue. This work will transform University Drive into a two lane road with a center turn lane and a bike lane on each side of the road.

The first round of repairs will include mill & a 2” overlay of asphalt between Second Street and Ayers Street. These repairs are estimated to be completed by Friday, Aug. 9.

Additionally, crews will be removing and replacing damaged sections of concrete roadway between Ayers Street and Chowning Avenue. Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction.

New road striping and signage will be added after the completion of paving. Work will also include the removal and replacement of the sidewalk and ramps on all four corners of the intersection of Ayers Street and University Drive.

The total project length is 75 calendar days. Rudy Construction is the contractor with a total project cost of $697,054.
