A Community Connections meeting set to discuss the amendments to Bridges of Spring Creek has been canceled for Thursday evening, said Jan Ramseyer-Fees, assistant city planner.
“We’re working out details with Reasor’s and so I’ve continued the Planning Commission to Oct. 16 and the City Council till Oct. 22,” said Randel Shadid, representing the developer, Sooner Land Co. “Assuming that we go forward then, we’ll have a Community Connections meeting prior to the meeting.”
Sooner Land Co. representatives were expected to meet at the Downtown Community Center to answer the community’s questions regarding plans for an 82,000-square-foot Reasor’s grocery store and three other, smaller buildings to be constructed at the Bridges of Spring Creek.
Planning Commissioners agreed earlier this month to amend a planned unit development to allow the grocery store to be located at the southeast corner of the PUD next to Turtle Creek. Bridges of Spring Creek is located on the northeast corner of 15th and Bryant.
The PUD amendment also includes three additional buildings with a 25,000-square-foot store, a 10,000-square-foot store and to the west a 10,800-square-foot store, said Bob Schiermeyer, city planner.
Planning Commission Chairman Barry Moore said he hopes that the developer’s timing to cancel or delay Thursday’s meeting will not inconvenience folks who my have altered their Labor Day plans to attend the meeting.
“They gave their word in a public meeting; I announced it from the bench or from the chair that it would take place. The citizenry expected that and I expect Sooner to keep their word and fulfill the commitment that they made to have a Community Connections meeting on this issue,” said Barry Moore, commission chairman.
