EDMOND — Five women found common ground through their faith and they want to create an environment to inspire other women to share their visions and receive encouragement from each other.

Christy Johnson, a writer and speaker, Stefine Miller, a writer and speaker who is currently developing her third novel “Collision” into a movie, Diane Stout is the author of “De-Stressing Your Life,” a Bible study for managing stress, Jenny Broughton, a professional communicator, and Rachel Sinclair, a writer and speaker, have formed a group called Common Ground 5.

“We are all either writers or speakers or both. Those worlds can be very lonely and other people don’t necessarily understand the struggles that come with working in this area. The group started as a way to connect with women in similar situations. It grew from there,” Miller said.

Common Ground 5 wants local women to bring a girlfriend and join them at Inspirations Tea Room at 2118 W. Edmond Road on March 21 for an evening of faith, fun and food. Broughton will be speaking.

“Each month features a different speaker, but all of the group attends and participates,” Johnson said.

Night of Inspirations is a monthly meeting on the third Thursday of every month at Inspirations Tea Room through May. All meetings will be from 6:55 p.m. to 8:35 p.m.

“Our main purpose is to reach out to women and provide a common ground for them to connect to us and to each other. We want to share what God is doing in our lives and theirs,” Stout said.

Common Ground 5 has been together for a year and a half. The five women have come together through mutual friends and are all from different churches and speak about different topics. They wanted to help each other grow in their areas of expertise. Together they are able to sharpen each other’s writing and speaking skills.

“We wanted women from the area to find a way to connect with one another that wasn’t church specific or organization specific. We hope that women are able to find common ground with one another, encourage one another, minister to one another and form wonderful bonds of friendship,” Miller said.
