EDMOND —
One of two area residents arrested for attempting to defraud an Edmond Walmart also possessed meth, a police report stated.
At 1720 hours on Dec. 23, Edmond Police Officer Joseph Delpha was dispatched to a fraud in progress call at Walmart, 2200 W. Danforth Rd., according to a report filed by Delpha.
A store loss prevention employee said he spotted the pair shopping and watched the male and female select a printer and a tower heater which they put in a cart, Delpha stated.
They went to customer service where the female put the items on the counter, Delpha stated. The female obtained a refund for the items without having paid for them, and the male used his ID to return the items since they did not have a receipt for them, the report stated.
The associate gave the male a gift card with the $88.16 from the return and he put the card in a pocket, Delpha stated.
Delpha stated that he reviewed the video and determined the two were working together. He stated that he arrested both Todd Allen Pearce, 30, of Guthrie, and Misty K. Bryant, 32, of Edmond, on a complaint of obtaining money by false pretenses.
Officer Jonathan Vincent cuffed Pearce and found a plastic bag the suspect said was meth, Delpha stated. At the station, the bag with the meth was found to weigh 3.5 grams, and the substance field-tested presumptive positive for meth, the report stated. It was sent to the OSBI for analysis.
Both suspects have posted bond and been released from the city jail.

3 miles of Broadway restoration nears completion
Work to restore 3 miles of Broadway from Waterloo to Simpson was near completion Friday, said Mark Sharpton, District 1 county commissioner. Atlas Paving Company began the process of resurfacing the road this week.
“Another improvement on the roadway will be the application of new safety striping,” Sharpton said.
