Training planned for therapeutic foster parents

The Edmond Sun

EDMOND — Eagle Ridge Institute is currently looking for families who are interested in learning more about becoming a therapeutic foster family for children who have been abused and/or neglected and are having a difficult time healing from their past or coping with their life circumstances.

Many children and youth living in shelters and group homes need the support and care of a specialized foster family, but cannot be placed in a family home simply because there are not enough families available in Oklahoma.

Eagle Ridge Institute’s Therapeutic Foster Care program is hosting the first training of 2013 beginning Jan. 19, and will continue for 8 weeks. You are never asked to make a commitment to fostering until after training has been completed. Those interested are invited to contact the office to learn more about therapeutic foster care.
