EDMOND — An Edmond swimming pool contractor has pleaded guilty in Oklahoma County District Court to charges of embezzlement and home repair fraud.

Attorney General Scott Pruitt said as a result of a plea agreement with the AG’s Public Protection Unit and the Oklahoma County District Attorney’s Office, Gary Robert Oester, 55, was sentenced to 10 years in prison, time that will be added to an 8-year sentence he is serving after pleading guilty to similar charges in Logan County in July.

According to the charges Oester, who operated under the trade name Indigo Custom Pools, is alleged to have signed contracts to install or repair swimming pools for homeowners in Oklahoma, Canadian and Cleveland counties from March through June of 2011. He accepted significant up-front payments, but failed to complete the work. Collectively, the victims claim to have lost more than $80,000.

The AG’s Public Protection Unit protects consumers from fraudulent, unfair or deceptive business practices and can provide conciliation services to help resolve complaints against businesses.
