House District 31 State Rep. Jason Murphey has been named to serve on the board of the Freedom of Information Oklahoma organization. Murphey attended his first board meeting last weekend.
“It is an honor to serve on the FOI Oklahoma board,” Murphey said. “The organization plays a pivotal role in working to ensure Oklahoma’s open meeting and open records laws are followed.”
Founded in 1990, FOI Oklahoma is a statewide organization that actively supports those organizations and individuals who work to open records or provide access to meetings illegally closed.
Murphey stated that serving on the FOI Oklahoma board has been an eye-opening experience.
“It has been amazing to observe the number of concerned citizens all across the state who contact the group seeking to remedy potential violations of transparency laws,” he said.
Murphey’s term on the board started in 2012 and will run through 2014.
