Former El Reno superintendent to lead Deer Creek

EDMOND — Deer Creek School District Board of Education members voted at Monday night’s meeting to hire Ranet Tippens as superintendent. She will replace Sean McDaniel, who resigned for a similar position in the Mustang School District.

Tippens has 35 years of experience in education in both public schools and college settings. She has served the past six years as superintendent of El Reno Public Schools. Prior to being superintendent, Tippens was the director of Special Services overseeing student services, secondary education, curriculum, grants and gifted education.

She served as principal and assistant principal in El Reno. Tippens also taught, directed programs and worked in grants at Redlands Community College and the University of Oklahoma.

“It is an honor and a privilege to have the opportunity to work with the faculty, staff, students, parents and board of Deer Creek Public Schools. Deer Creek is widely known for its academic and extra-curricular excellence along with its strong community support. I look forward to the continued success of this great district,” Tippens said.

“We are very pleased to name Ranet Tippens as the Deer Creek superintendent,” said Deer Creek school board president David Miller. “She has great experience and background that will help her serve at the helm of this fast growing district.”

Tippens will begin her tenure with Deer Creek on March 3.

Deer Creek has 4,660 students enrolled in pre-K through 12th grades. The district includes four elementary schools, Deer Creek, Grove Valley, Prairie Vale and Rose Union with a fifth elementary under construction, Deer Creek Middle School, Deer Creek Intermediate School and Deer Creek High School.
