EDMOND — The Edmond Fire Department will have a Citizen’s Fire Academy class beginning March 7.

This free, 12-week program is designed to provide participants with a basic understanding of fire, rescue and emergency medical operations in the Edmond Fire Department. The program will enhance the participant’s knowledge of their Fire Department’s capabilities, as well as build relationships between Edmond firefighters and the citizens they strive to protect.

Participants in the academy will have the opportunity to participate in some hands-on activities. Participants will be equipped with appropriate protective equipment during these activities. All activities are voluntary, but are encouraged.

Classes will be on Thursday evenings from 6-9 p.m. at the Edmond Fire Department Training Center at 5300 E. Covell Road. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and have no criminal record. Citizens who live or work in Edmond are encouraged to apply online at edmondfd.com/cfa.
