EDMOND — Founders of the Respect Diversity Foundation and Edmond residents Michael and Joan Korenblit were honored with an Outstanding Human Rights Achievements Award by The Oklahoma Universal Human Rights Alliance.

“This award was presented ‘for tireless education for universal human rights and dignity in Oklahoma,” said Stan Evans, assistant dean of the University of Oklahoma College of Law and a member of the Respect Diversity Foundation’s Board of Directors. “I congratulate Joan and Michael for their well-deserved recognition.”

Evans, a member of the Oklahoma Human Rights Commission that was abolished in 2012, said, “I find this award extremely important. Joan and Michael accepted their awards and shared remarks in the House Chamber of the Oklahoma State Capitol on Dec. 10.

The Jewish Federation of Greater OKC presented the Hand in Hand Award to Mike and Joan on Jan. 31 at the Will Rogers Theatre in Oklahoma City, Evans said. “This is a community service award for the work that they do with the Respect Diversity Foundation.”
