Edmond Fire Department offers Citizen’s Fire Academy

Special to The Sun

EDMOND — The Edmond Fire Department will have a Citizen’s Fire Academy class beginning March 7. This free, 12-week program is designed to provide a basic understanding of fire, rescue and emergency medical operations. The program will enhance the participant’s knowledge of their Fire Department’s capabilities, as well as build relationships between the Edmond Firefighters and the citizens we strive to protect.

Participants in the academy will have the opportunity to participate in some hands-on activities. Participants will be equipped with appropriate protective equipment during these activities. All activities are voluntary, but are encouraged.

Classes will be held on Thursday evenings from 6-9  p.m. at the Edmond Fire Department Training Center, 5300 E. Covell Road. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age with no criminal record. Citizens who live or work in Edmond are encouraged to apply online at edmondfd.com/cfa.
