OKLA. CITY —
A fundraiser for 5-year-old Nathan Butler of Moore will be on from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 17 in the parking lot of Billygoat Moto Cult motorcycle club at 13505 Railway Drive in Oklahoma City, near the intersection of Broadway Extension and Memorial Road.
Nathan, son of John-Henry and Stephanie Butler, was diagnosed with Stage IV Neuroblastoma in May. Neuroblastoma is a rare cancer that is most common in children 5 and under. This type of cancer develops from nerve tissue that forms the sympathetic nervous system, which controls certain functions such as digestion and heart rate. Nathan has recently undergone chemotherapy and surgery to remove the primary tumor resulting in the loss of one of his kidneys.
“Nathan has fought hard. Anything that will help him continue his fight would mean a lot to us. He is our little superhero” said his mother.
This cancer is very aggressive; he is on round six of chemotherapy and following that will be a long stay at OU Children’s Hospital for his stem-cell transplant. Even with health insurance the expense of these treatments and hospital stays is extensive.
Activities at the family fundraiser include a motorcycle show, silent auction, inflatables, children’s activities and food. The cost to enter a motorcycle in the bike show is $10. Those wishing to enter the bike show should email the club at unfading@

Clean-up continues for Edmond tornado victims
Mid-June is the approximate time that work is expected to be completed in Edmond for replacing nine transmission structures lost in Sunday’s tornado, said Brian Alford, OG&E spokesperson. Repairs could take longer, depending on weather conditions, he added.
Work in Edmond focuses on the Forest Oaks and Thornbrooke additions, both along Bryant Avenue. Twelve homes were damaged in the city by the storm that also dropped hail on northwest Edmond. Major damage impacted three of the homes while the other nine homes had minor damage, said Matt Stillwell, director of the city’s emergency communications and management.
Contract crews from out-of-state are helping OG&E in their restoration effort throughout central and southern Oklahoma, Alford said. -

Memorial service for tornado victims set
Gov. Mary Fallin announced that a memorial and prayer service will be at 6 p.m. Sunday at the First Baptist Church in Moore. The service will honor and remember the victims of the May 20 tornado that killed 24 people in Moore and the May 19 tornado that killed two in the Shawnee and Carney area. It is open to the public.

Carpenter Square Theatre presents “Something Intangible,” a comedy-drama based on Walt and Roy Disney in 1940s Hollywood. Bruce Graham’s tale focuses on the period when they are developing a full-length animated film set to classical music. The new play will be performed through June 8 at 800 W.
